Deals & Dalliances has received much love, and for that, thank you all! It is still sitting at 27 Amazon reviews, but 47 Goodreads ones (50 is the magic number). Being an author is not for the faint of heart! Just know that whenever you share about my books, I very much appreciate you! This whole journey has been wild to me!

Oh summer! I have many plans. Today was my last day of in person classes with my students. Look at these beautiful things:

A name plaque for my desk, coffee and a writer’s keychain!
They by no means had to get me anything, but I nearly cried. It’s staying on my desk for this summer. There’s a few work days left and then I’m off! Well, besides my online classes I’m teaching this summer…
So! I have a two week vacation planned with my family (So send me some cozy recs!). BUT I will also be doing lots of writing! I’m joining in with AK Mulford for her 3 Day 30K, and I’m very excited about it! I also hope to write two books this summer, so we’ll see what happens!

I have 7 chapters done! You can also now officially preorder it! It is set to be published March 6th, 2026. I’ll have a future timeline for you guys in June!
Here is a very tiny sneak peak:
“The night had been boring so far, but really it wasn’t anything new from the thousands of other nights I’d been alive. I stared out at the city, pondering if I wanted to go do anything. That’s the problem with immortality; endless opportunities mean eventual boredom. Having a deadline, a pending doom, really put decisions into perspective.
Staying inside, drinking a glass of blood, and ignoring the world seemed appealing. After all, these days there were so many ways to entertain oneself alone. You didn’t need anyone else; you could read, watch a movie, eat all you wanted, listen to music, call people, surf the web, or a thousand other things without having to leave your couch. And it was a very comfy couch.”

Fantasy, adventure, and of course... Dragons! Physician and scientist by day, author by any time in between, Rachel Simpson loves all things liminal, wondrous, and esoteric. In her stories, you'll find powerful friendships, raucous adventures, transformations and the pivotal choices that shape worlds. When she's not writing, you'll find her out sailing, snuggling with her two cats, or off on an adventure with friends.
